CONDENSATIONAL GROWTH OF DROPLETS

Abstract


An analysis of vapour condensation on droplets is presented. General approximate expressions for the parameters of the droplet mass distribution function are derived from the analytical solution. These expressions are valid for a broad class of droplet mass growth rates and arbitrary initial distributions. The accuracy of these expressions is investigated and the errors are found to be small. The method
of moments for log-normal and gamma distributions is applied to the problem of vapour condensation. Some approximate formulas for parameters of these distributions are derived and their accuracy is investigated.
